CHERRY RED PRODUCTIONS presents:

Schoolgirl Figure

Written By: Wendy MacLeod
Directed By: Paul Donnelly

Featuring: Judith Baicich, Ryan Fearson, Rachyl Felty, Sica Nielsen and Emerie Snyder.

The cult success of The House of Yes, Wendy MacLeod's 1996 comedy about incest and JFK's assassination, left folks wondering where MacLeod's evil-satirical eye might turn next. With Schoolgirl Figure, they got their answer: anorexic and bulimic teenage girls dieting their poor little selves to death.

Let's start with Monique, the scrawniest schoolgirl in school. She's on her death bed, gasping out a few final gems of dieting wisdom to her heirs-to-be. Her heirs-to-be are eyeing her cute necklace. Who will be the successor to Monique's thinness throne? Which bony babe will be crowned consort to the hottest hottie in school (aka, The Bradley)? Who will get her cute necklace?

The answers to these, and other questions, will be revealed when Cherry Red presents the East Coast premiere of this hilariously sick new play.

Schoolgirl Figure will be directed by Paul Donnelly, whose credits include Baked Baby for Cherry Red, and I Love You for Charter Theatre.

CHERRY RED PRODUCTIONS presents:

SHANNEN DOHERTY SHOOTS A PORNO
A WORKSHOP PRODUCTION

Written by: Billy Bermingham
Directed By: Ian Allen

Starring: Kate Debelack as Shannen
With Judith Baicich, Lucrezia Blozia, Phil Bolin, Tony Greenberg, Richard Renfield, Melanie Tatum, and Nader Tavangar

Billy Bermingham's parody of 1994 Americana takes aim at Shannen "She-Beast of Hollywood," Tori Spelling, Judd Nelson, Traci Lords, Axl Rose, and a nasty lesbian Nazi prison warden: all badly imitated by Cherry Red! (Except the nasty lesbian Nazi prison warden.) (She's for real.) From the self-same writer/director duo that brought you Cannibal Cheerleaders on Crack.

"Raunchy, juvenile, violent, and tasteless... Multiple episodes of projectile vomiting, a jailhouse rape with a broomstick, several bits involving severed body parts, and the spectacle of Barney the Dinosaur on a crucifix. I give it a big thumbs up!" -- Richard Roeper, of the Chicago premiere.

February 4, 2002 - February 6, 2002

CAVEGIRL PRODUCTIONS presents:

Ellipsis

Written By: Kelley Slagle and Ernest Leo III
Directed By: Kelley Slagle

In its premier production, Cavegirl Productions is proud to present "Ellipsis", a modern adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's classic existentialist play "No Exit"

Picture this: You are placed in a shabbily furnished and discomforting room, surrounded by people whom you do not know nor care for. The only light is timeless and artificial; the only sounds are your own voice and those of strangers. Your only other company is that of small flashes of the life you left behind passing before you -- the tormenting thoughts of your own sins and frailties. There is no sleep, no release, and no escape.

This is the place we find ourselves; with three people, like you and I, thrust together in all their pettiness and fear; prejudice and illusions, to bristle against one another for eternity.

Three people… three sins… one Hell.

CHERRY RED PRODUCTIONS presents:

BLUEBEARD
A Melodrama in Three Acts

Written By: Charles Ludlam
Directed By: Rick Fiori

Things are geting a little lonely for Baron Khanazar von Bluebeard. His failed attempts at creating a third and perfect gender have made him a laughing stock. ("Even in Denmark they call him a quack!") But now, banished to the Island of Lost Love, Bluebeard awaits the arrival of the good ship Lady Vain. Its cargo? The Baron's next innocent victim...er, his beloved niece, that is.

The play, first performed by Ludlam's Ridiculous Theatre Company in 1970, is a fantastic amalgamation of class and crass, grandeur and gaudy, beautiful and just plain tacky.

Rick Fiori, who directed last summer's smash hit, Zombie Attack!, returns to Metro Cafe and the realm of blood-curdling, toe-curling horror with this production.

November 2, 2001 - December 9, 2001

GLAMONSTROSITY, INC. presents:

I Love Robot

Written By: Zach Clark
Directed By: Patrick Santoro

Poor Cheryl Finkerman, all she wants is a little love, while all her husband Rob wants to do is invent stuff. Lucky for her he invents Tobor, an automated home service unit that brings back all her fantasies of adolescent appliance action! When Rob goes away to an inventors' convention she begins a torrid tryst with Tobor. It occurs to Cheryl that there are probably other lonely, unfulfilled women out there and that she's sitting on a gigabyte-grinding goldmine. She becomes Cheryl Finkerman, robopimp!

September 7, 2001 - October 21, 2001

CHERRY RED PRODUCTIONS presents:

Killer Joe

Mom had better watch her ass! She's got a $50,000 insurance policy and an estranged family of good ol' fashioned Texas trailer trash a'plottin' to git at it one way or 'nother. But things don't go as planned, and one screw-up follows the next as the family's ugly undercurrents begin to surface.

Playwright Tracy Letts's sharp-tongued, decidedly un-poetic voice fuses slapstick comedy with chilling brutality in this funny-as-hell indictment of the American Way. "White-trash Gothic with a comic book spin! Deeply funny! Keeps you enthralled," raves The New York Times.

Cherry Red veteran Anton Dudley, who previously directed "Talk Show" in 1998, and "Romeo & Juliatric" (which he also wrote) last season, will direct. Other D.C. credits include "Venus" and "Hair" (co-director) for Studio Theatre SecondStage, and "Short Eyes" at Theatre J.

The cast, headed-up by Washington Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Christopher Henley as Joe, features Ken Arnold (Ansel), Dan Brick (Chris), Michelle Mulitz (Dottie), and Ellen Young (Sharla).
